Compare Rally Master to other types of backboards.

Unlike fiberglass backboards, the rich color of the Rally Master Backboard is molded all the way through the backboard panels, not just painted on an outer shell. Your Rally Master Backboard will never fade like a painted fiberglass backboard. Our patent-pending sound dampening system reduces panel vibration, greatly reducing rebound noise.

Fiberglass backboards can split open, develop dead spots, or be subject to irregular rebounds when the thin outer shell separates from the core.

Damaged Fiber Glass Backboard
Fiberglass Backboard with chips and cracks

The color of a fiberglass backboard is painted on the surface, which is a thin outer shell. Extreme fading is common. The 8 foot high backboard on the right affords very little hitting surface.

Faded Fiber Glass Backboard

Rally Master Backboards are virtually indestructible. They can withstand the harshest treatment, including lacrosse, basketball and soccer practice. Since they are constructed of solid, flexible panels, they cannot be punctured during shipping, by improper use, or by vandalism.

Concrete block backboard in need of maintenance

Concrete Block Backboard

Concrete Block Backboards are very expensive initially and require constant maintenance.

Wooden Backboard with fading and structure issues

Wood Backboard

Wooden backboards will typically last about 3-5 years, Rally Master Backboards are covered by a 20 year warranty against structural failure.

Concave & Curved Backboard

Concave and Curved backboards are designed to redirect the angle of wide, low, or high shots, back towards a central hitter-postion. This defeats the entire point of backboard training! Practicing on a flat backboard does not reward the hitter for errant shots. Flat backboards force the hitter to run down the errant rebounds, while reinforcing proper stroke technique, preparation, and footwork.

Back Sloped Backboard

85 Degree Back-Sloped boards "loft" the ball back to the hitter. Back slope provides the same undesirable ball rebound characteristics as a concave and/or curved backboards. The unrealistic ball return reinforces lazy practice.

Sand Filled Backboard

Sand filled backboards are touted by their manufacturer as a "quieter" backboard. We have been unable to obtain decibel tests from the manufacturer's to verify it's claim of reduced noise. We urge you to insist upon this data before buying a Sand-Filled Backboard. Please keep in mind that the backboard panels are hollow, plastic shells. You are required to fill them with sand that you have purchased locally.

Computerized Backboard

We found the randomly blinking target lights to be a huge distraction. We are not sure if the backboard comes with a full time computer technician, but based on the price, we assume one does!
